Denise and her husband, Leddy, own and operate Boxcar Feed Yard and Horseshoe Cattle Co. near Hermleigh, Texas. Leddy goes to three sale barns a week to purchase yearlings for their company and customers. He’s in charge of the day-to-day cattle management and processing. Their adult son, Zant, a full-time semitruck driver, hauls cattle for various operations including their own. 

Denise used to be involved feeding and processing cattle but as the family’s operation has grown, she has transitioned to full-time bookkeeping. On top of her responsibilities for both businesses, Denise is a fourth-sixth grade math teacher at Ira Independent School District.

While balancing an off-the-farm career with the demands of bookkeeping for the businesses, Denise often finds herself catching up on records and bills over the weekend. 

"Performance Beef has been a lifesaver. Since it’s online, I can pull up the program at school and enter cattle movements or sales in real-time. It saves me hours of work,” Denise says.  

The cattle management software has helped Denise and her family organize data like never before, saving time while becoming more efficient.

“I can't imagine keeping up with medicine or feed inventory without the program,” she says. “I can quickly run an invoice or closeout reports. I don't think I could keep accurate records with the program and still have another job.”
